Among other things, we gradually implemented LED lighting in warehouses and stores and we optimized the lighting control. We reduced the start-up time of cooling systems and we have installed new energy-efficient refrigeration systems in our stores. We have progresively equipped the refrigerated display cases for fresh productswith glass doors and, last but not least, we habe been constantly renewing the technology of the systems. To achieve energy consumption targets, we installed LED lighting systems, modernized the cooling installations with more energy- efficient ones and modified some construction techniques for the new stores or in the remodeling process of the existing ones. These achievements prove the effectiveness of the energy management system that our company implemented throughout recent years. Although energy consumption increased compared to the previous year by 3.27% (explained by the increase in the number of stores), energy efficiency of PENNY sites per square meter improved by 3.77% compared to the previous year.
