We have been ISO 50001 certified since 2017, and in 2020, we managed to get the certification according to the new ISO 50001: 2018 standard. With this energy management system, PENNY has an effective control tool to improve energy efficiency in the short and long term. Thus, we manage to identify potential saving areas that have an ecological impact, to implement the most efficient measures and to reduce, at the same time, the operational costs. Anessentialconditionforoptimizing energy consumption is the detailed recording of the main energy goals, defining the secondary targets and their monitoring. Only in this way the links between the measured energy consumption and the implemented measures can be identified and evaluated. Along with the responsible administrative staff and the energy manager, an important role is also played by employees in stores, headquarters and warehouses. We believe that, through their behavior, employees contribute significantly to the success of measures in the workplace and are important indicators for defining new improvement actions. Photo voltaic panels At the end of 2020, PENNY operated in a total of 33 stores with photo- voltaic systems with a potential system capacity of 2,658 kWp.
