Fruits and vegetables As a trusted partner, we maintain direct relationships with local farmers on an equal footing. The focus is to protect, preserve, and promote local bodies. We prioritize Romanian production and offer at least 40% of our fruit and vegetable selection from Romanian sources during the months of availability. Thus, we select our fruit and vegetable suppliers according to two important criteria: the quantity produced and varieties preferred by Romanians. Through firm purchase promises made at the beginning of the crops, we ensure that we have the necessary products and that producers have the security of a buyer. Depending on the season, we have increased the availability of Romanian products such as white cabbage or parsnips. z Buying fruits and vegetables from local suppliers ensures freshness of produce, better prices for our customers, and a reduced carbon footprint for transportation. z We work with seasonal producers in Romania based on the season plan and try to have local producers from our logistics centers regions z We perform local procurement of vegetables and fruit taking into account the requirements of Global Gap standards for agricultural product certification and crop zoning. z We have stepped up laboratory testing on pesticide residues. z Zoning is the distribution of crops in areas with favorable ecological conditions for the formation of a stable crop so as to harness their biological potential. For example, we source our root crops from Dobrogea, a large variety of vegetables are purchased from the Galati County area, and we buy apples, pears, and grapes from the northeastern part of the country, while potatoes come from the center of the country. z We aim to develop certain concentrated regions of vegetable and fruit production depending on the soil properties of each area, but we also have local producers serving only certain platforms. We are directly involved in supporting local producers even in the technological processes carried out by the producers, by supporting them in terms of treatments applied to the products or even purchase of seedlings. At the same time, we provide our partners with qualified people to help them with the application of treatments specific to each product.
