Adriana SAVU Team Leader Marketing – Private Label More sustainable packaging For our products, we aim to avoid excessive packaging or, if this is not possible, to reduce essential packaging or redesign it using more sustainable materials, following the 3R strategy – reduce, reuse, recycle. By reducing the number of materials used for packaging, and in particular plastic, we reduce the amount of waste that needs to be recycled and reduce environmental and ocean pollution. Therefore, we have implemented the following measures: z All bags in our stores have been replaced with environmentally friendly, 100% compostable versions made from plant-based raw materials; z Conventional bags for fruit and vegetables have been replaced by biodegradable bags made from biopolymers and corn starch; in 2022, we tested the sale of reusable bags for fruit and vegetable assortment; z We have started using recycled PET packaging for water and will expand this type of packaging to soft drinks; z We have introduced "Consume, Collect Separately" and "Consume, Rinse, Collect Separately" icons on our private label product packaging to encourage consumers to collect packaging waste separately; we want an educated consumer who is aware of their responsibility to collect separately; z 35% of private label packaging in the cosmetics and detergents categories has been replaced with more sustainable solutions; z For private label products, we have requested Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification for paper and board from our suppliers for both primary and secondary packaging.
