IMPACT ECONOMIC SOCIAL ENVIRONMENT Climate protection Increased energy consumption, volatile energy prices, and updated energy price cap legislation lead to a negative impact on the climate, but also to high operational costs for our company. We are therefore making every effort to ensure energy efficiency, identifying opportunities to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions. At the same time, in the near future we might be affected by the carbon taxes that could bring economic strain to our company. By ensuring optimal energy efficiency, we reduce energy consumption and related GHG emissions that contribute substantially to climate change and other negative impacts that could affect people and communities. At the same time, through our photovoltaic panel network, we have the opportunity to contribute to the national renewable energy grid by feeding the surplus produced on our sites into the national grid. Climate change is today's main international environmental challenge. Thus, by ensuring energy efficiency and setting strategic targets and actions to reduce our carbon footprint, we mitigate the negative impact on the environment by: creating programs/projects that will contribute to the 1.5 degrees global temperature mitigation target, managing energy consumption efficiently and using renewable sources. Resource conservation Energy, water, fuel and other resources are valuable and very expensive and we are aware of this. Through our actions we can help reduce consumption and the costs associated with resources. We are aware of the need for good resource management and the need to ensure the availability of resources for both current and future communities. Through sustainable consumption of raw materials and contributing to the circular economy, we strive to make a positive impact on society so that finite resources are accessible to all stakeholders. The planet's resources are not infinite. By using energy, water and putting packaged products on the market, we contribute to a negative impact. However, we also consider any opportunities we identify to mitigate our impact and strengthen the positive area to contribute to sustainable production and consumption on the medium and long term. Logistics and mobility Mobility and logistics is a material topic that impacts the economic factor of our company and our employees. Optimizing road freight transport leads to considerable savings. We contribute to creating jobs for our suppliers, but also by increasing the number of employees working in logistics. Occasionally, our logistics and mobility can add a negative social impact (such as noise distortion, noxiousness, etc.). Fuel consumption and the generation of transport-specific noxious emissions have a negative impact on the environment. Equipping our own fleet with low consumption and low emission vehicles and also installing RES fleet chargers near our stores has a positive impact on the environment. Green buildings The design, construction and operation of buildings is one of the most resource-intensive segments worldwide. We are investing in the development of green buildings and in doing so we aim to reduce the costs of increase asset value, optimize life-cycle economic performance and last but not least, improve productivity of employees by providing a more modern and efficient working methods. Along with the design and construction of green buildings, local communities are also involved and impacted through site planning and landscaping activities. During the operational period, the social benefits of green buildings are defined by improvements in health and comfort of customers and employees by improving indoor air quality in stores. Green buildings have a positive impact on the environment throughout all stages of development and maturity. Thus, the main advantages for the environment during the design and construction phase are the protection and support of biodiversity and resource conservation through the use of sustainable materials. During the operational phase, the main advantages are energy efficiency, conservation of natural resources through reduced consumption, and support for the circular economy.
