All PENNY Romania's employees are covered by health insurance. One of the most accessed services in the last year was the flu vaccine. In 2022 we updated the health insurance benefits package with the possibility to settle specialist treatments and hospitalizations in EU countries and Turkey. We plan to expand the package by introducing psychotherapy sessions and financial support for people diagnosed with an illness classified as serious. Adequate risk monitoring also involves preventing hazards to employees of external collaborators. We ensure that partners and subcontractors working in our workplaces are registered when they enter the work areas and that they are qualified, as required by law, for the work they perform. All contractors and subcontractors receive basic safety awareness training and are given general introductory SHE training on entry to REWE workplaces. At an early stage of a contract with such a partner, the HSE representative is involved in advising on the implementation of legal provisions. Thus, at the beginning of the contracts, a convention is established between REWE Romania and the partners, which contains the rules and the HSE/EMS measures to be followed during the contract, in order to minimize the risks in the work process, risks to physical and mental integrity, preservation of the health of the workers or other persons participating in the work process. 2021 2022 Recordable injury rate* Recordable injury rate* Number of incurred by women 10 1.14 24 2.44 Number of incurred by men 20 2.27 6 0.61 Total number of work related accidents 30 3.41 30 3.05 Total number of work related accidents 19 2.16 23 2.34 Number of work related accidents while travelling 4 0.45 3 0.31 Number of sick leave days due to work related accidents 443 394 * The rate was calculated using actual hours worked of 8 805 548 hours in 2021 and 9 833 238 hours in 2022. As of 2022, there were 30 workplace accidents, 26 of which were suffered by PENNY Romania's own employees. The majority of accidents reported and investigated originated from the use of electric or manual/hydraulic lathes/hoists or were road accidents. The causes of the work events occurred were mainly wrong action of workers, non-use of personal protective equipment, omissions and errors while performing the work. Measures taken: 1. Retraining of workers involved in work-related events; 2. Preparation of the event investigation report on the causes and circumstances of the event with all workers of the respective work point; 3. Review the risk assessment and the prevention and protection plan. There were no cases of occupational illness or fatalities attributable to workplace risks or hazards. All these events were reported and investigated by joint investigation committees, composed of both representatives of the provider (in the case of victims outside the group) and representatives of REWE Romania.
