Local communities EXPLAINING THE IMPACT We stand by local communities. Together with our partners we are actively involved in promoting health, supporting socially disadvantaged people and we stand by local communities by supporting investment in infrastructure. We encourage the participation of our employees in the projects we run through volunteering and support customers through in-store campaigns. We believe that this is the only way we can strengthen community spirit and extend the positive impact of our projects. HOW WE CONTROL THE IMPACT The stability and growth of our business depends on ensuring a high level of well-being for the communities in which we operate. Our community engagement objectives aim to create an enabling environment for the growth and development of children, ensure food security, and increase opportunities for what we call "sustainable lifestyle". Through our collaboration with like-minded NGOs, we have developed many long-term partnerships, which have resulted in investments in infrastructure, urban development and funded services to support local communities. Also, as part of the Germanic community, we support cultural diversity in Romania through various events and celebrations with our partners. OUR IMPACT AND PERFORMANCE IN FIGURES In 2022, the total value of sponsorships was approximately 660 000 Euros, dedicated exclusively to projects to develop the communities in which we operate by investing in local infrastructure and urban development. The significant indirect economic effects on the community are grouped into three action areas: z Projects promoting infrastructure investment for vulnerable communities: BufKIDS z Projects to promote urban development and a sustainable development environment for children: EfdeN – Sustainable City, Plant Good Deeds, ExtravaCANza z Projects to promote sport: Romanian Football Federation Supporting Germanic communities Every year we support the New Year's reception organized by the AHK, and we are with the German Embassy at the National Day celebrations. In 2022, we have joined the 30th edition of the IWA Christmas Bazaar for the first time in our efforts to support diversity in the communities in which we operate. The charity event was organized by IWA – International Women's Association of Romania. Funds raised from the sales of traditional products from participating countries were redirected to associations supporting people in need. PENNY also took part, offering traditional Romanian products.
