Strategic integration of environmental and social responsibility Our strategy aims to create a positive economic, social and environmental impact for our community. We have defined four pillars of sustainability through which we have been able to integrate our sustainability strategy with our strategic business directions. We realized from the beginning that integration will bring much more value to us. Our governance is based on the principle of stakeholder engagement in development processes. We pay attention to the economic impact for the business but also for other external stakeholder groups. Our effort is focused on creating business resilience in a context of major changes at both macro and micro economic level. We are promoters of sustainability as a whole. We use market research that identifies changing consumer perceptions. Quality of life is determined by many factors. We try through the operationalization of the business to reach the changing needs of our consumers. We identify risks in the market and often succeed in turning them into opportunities. In order to be able to incorporate sustainability practices into our day-today work, a dedicated international committee was assembled, established by REWE Group. Each country has a representative with strict responsibilities for sustainability. In addition to the division of responsibilities by country, we hcreated a PENNY International sustainability team to ensure that the best decisions are made to strengthen the sustainability strategy. Starting in 2022, the team is coordinated by 2 departments at international level: the Procurement Department – responsible for sustainable products – and the Strategy and Project Management Department – managing the social responsibility (CSR) aspects. This division of responsibilities aims to: z Effectively implement and transparently communicate measures based on PENNY International's sustainability strategy, and z Increase integration of existing resources without the need for additional staff. Sustainability Operational Committee At PENNY, sustainability is one of the top priorities of the highest governing body. Since its introduction in 2017, the national sustainability strategy has been led by the company's CEO, Daniel Gross, and coordinated by the Sustainability Manager, Claudia Ivan. The three operational pillars of sustainability are overseen by the three general directors (as per their statements, responsibilities and commitments). This underlines the high priority the company has given to the pillars and reflects the amount of work done in this area through the integration of sustainability principles into all operations. The Sustainability Operational Committee is led by the CEO of PENNY Romania who coordinates the entire sustainability team which includes a Sustainability Manager and other key functions managing operational aspects of each strategic pillar, organized into operational Sub-Committees. By sharing expertise and best practices within the Working Committees, we openly review strategic initiatives and provide support in the implementation of projects so that PENNY Romania's economic, social and environmental objectives are achieved efficiently and effectively. The Committee meets quarterly or whenever relevant or critical issues need to be discussed. Annually during the reporting period, the CEO and PENNY Romania's Sustainability Manager are actively involved in aggregating the organization's performance disclosures. They pay particular attention to reviewing and approving reported information, including material topics relevant to the organization. They discuss the materiality matrix, defining reporting areas with a focus on strict correlation with the sustainability and business strategy but also focus on data and figures highlighting the impact generated from the operational segment. The final information is reviewed locally but also internationally by a key function defined by the REWE Group. The sustainability report in its final form is verified by the CEO of PENNY Romania and then published to the organization's stakeholders using different online media but on the PENNY website under the "Sustainability" section.
