REGIONALITY AND LOCAL PRODUCTS EXPLAINING THE IMPACT The problem of unbalanced development at the regional level is a significant obstacle to the sustainable growth of the entire national economy. Expanding business at the regional level will help achieve sustainable development goals and minimize disparities between regions. At PENNY, we focus on sourcing from regional producers and long-term collaborations with them. Our strategy is to offer customers products processed in Romania, with the primary ingredient in Romania, and the substantial transformation of the main ingredient also being done in Romania. This is what we call "TripleRO". Providing a regional assortment, supports local producers, contributes to strengthening the wellbeing of Romanian farmers and local farms and therefore the communities living around them. In order to maintain a positive impact, we aim to be as close as possible to the communities in which we operate by offering regional products and private labels made according to typical Romanian recipes. HOW WE CONTROL THE IMPACT To meet the expectations of our customers and at the same time support the Romanian economy, we select our partners according to the product categories supplied. Ongoing partnerships with local suppliers ensure a constant flow of fresh, regional, and customer-friendly products such as bread, fruit and vegetables or wines. We constantly strive to increase the percentage of regional products at the best price. We also focus on the development of our private labels, which support local producers and promote traditional food products and are an essential element in the development of the rural food industry. OUR IMPACT AND PERFORMANCE IN FIGURES Our long-term collaboration with local suppliers is based on continuity, affordability, professionalism, and business sustainability. The development of business relationships with local suppliers is achieved by following several steps, which may involve developing successful product recipes or well-developed business plans. This year, we have seen an increase of almost 6% in local suppliers in Romania, representing over 87% of our total suppliers. In addition, almost 90% of the procurement budget for 2022 was used for products from Romanian suppliers.
