TripleRO (3RO) In 2020, we decided on an ambitious target, under the umbrella of TripleRO (3RO): we set ourselves the target that by the end of 2023, 60% of the assortment on sale in PENNY stores would have the main ingredient sourced in Romania, i.e., grown, extracted, or manufactured in the country and processed and packaged in Romania. Together with our partner, the Academy of Economic Studies, we analyzed 100 opportunities for local business development in industries such as agriculture, packaging, and cosmetics, to find solutions that will help us offer Romanians products that are aligned with the 3RO objective in the near future. What does 3RO mean? z The main ingredient originates from Romania, i.e., the ingredient that represents the highest relative weight (%) in the volume of the final product, as shown on the product label, and was grown, produced, bred, extracted, or manufactured in Romania; z The product is processed in Romania, where processing means an action that modifies the original ingredient/product, including heating, smoking, salting, baking, freezing, drying, marinating, extracting, extruding, mixing, processing, diluting or a combination of these processes; z The product is packaged in Romania, i.e., the product has been placed in packaging, whether primary, secondary or tertiary, on Romanian territory. Why TripleRO? z Responding to customer need: according to surveys, regionality and local products is the third shopping criterion after price and promotion, while we position ourselves as "The fresh neighborhood discounter that that best understands Romanians" z Added value for communities: we want to contribute to reducing the 5 billion Euros deficit in processed agri-food products, according to Romania's trade balance z Short supply chain: translates into freshness and better availability of goods z Sustainability: we want to reduce our carbon footprint and create value for communities We plan to further develop our close collaboration with local and regional producers, and we are on track to align our private label assortment with the TripleRO target, whereby we aim to have 60% of our assortment produced, processed and having the main ingredient in Romania by 2023. We will continue to promote local value creation through the continued expansion of TripleRO products. In this way, as well as by clearly labeling these products on the shelf in our stores, we are implementing our commitment to promoting local products.
