Interventions in the operational area The development and the promotion of consumption of sustainable products represent two important objectives. Year after year, PENNY continues to give responsible consumers reasons for joy, by trading sustainable products, by investing in partnerships with local and regional suppliers. In the framework of the strategic sustainability process, the areas of action concerning the retail trade with food products in Romania have been redefined. The areas of action of the ”Sustainable assortment” pillar include” Ethics in the Supply Chain Processes”, ”Animal welfare”,” Environmental protection”, and” Nutrition”. In these fields, our operational goals are the following: z Stores remodeling according to the ”Future Store” concept. With a modern and elegant design which facilitates a pleasant shopping experience with an emphasis on sustainable assortment categories. z Furthering local partnerships. Currently, we have strong partnerships with 619 local and regional producers of fresh products, and 63% of our products are Romanian. We invested in quality and provide our customers with local products at an advantageous price. z Investments in quality and local products for our customers. In 2021, PENNY continued to invest in quality products, according to customers’ requirements, and constantly offered convenient prices so that the customers are able to buy all the products they need from our stores on a daily basis, in a quick and efficient manner. Our strategy is to focus our attention on foods produced in Romania by local producers. z Efficiency with new equipments. Equipping the showcases with doors, the use of IFCO baskets and the use of an appropriate transport logistics service are actions that contribute to the quality and long-term freshness of foods. z Timeliness of delivery services. In 2021, this indicator was 98%. z Protection for employees, customers and collaborators. We have placed a stronger emphasis on measures of prevention and fighting the spread of diseases and on maintaining the high quality of distribution and delivery services, so that all food quality requirements are strictly complied with. z Pilot project for monitoring the crops. We guarantee the quick placement of Romanian products on the shelf of our stores. z Communication policies: Our conduct complies with the principles developed by REWE Group, and the directives of the National Audio-Visual Council.We complywith the credibility and transparency principles during the advertising and awareness campaigns.
