Romania's first sustainable city concept – EFdeN We support the initiative of the non-governmental orga- nization EFdeN to develop the first sustainable city in Romania, in the form of a prototype built on the campus of the Faculty of Engineering of Installations in Bucharest, which is intended to be scaled down to the size of Romanian cities. The project aims to design and execute 40 points of interest for the harmonious fulfilment of a functional and sustainable urban community. Currently there are 10 points of interest already completed: the 2 EFdeN Houses, 4C and Signature houses, photovoltaic trees, electric car charging stations, electric bike and scooter charging station, urban wind turbines, outdoor study areas, urban agriculture and aeroponic system, sports area where you can play chess, basketball or table tennis. Planting good deeds – EccoAssist Association We are convinced of the importance of preserving and restoring these natural spaces by planting trees, preserving environmental features and improving opportunities for both water and life. We want future generations to enjoy a natural environment, and clean air. Planting Good Deeds is a volunteer project under the High Patronage of Her Majesty Margareta, Custodian of the Romanian Crown, organized by the EccoAssist Association. The aim of the project is to cultivate Romania's future forests with the help of volunteers. We will see the results years from now, when future generations will be able to walk through the forests we are shaping today. We joined in 2022 with 100 PENNY volunteers for the second time in this project, and participated in 4 volunteer sessions, in Ghercești, Dolj county, in Aroneanu, Iași county, in Călărași, Cluj county and in Călugăreni, Giurgiu county. Good ideas are never just seedlings. We will continue planting every year. ExtravaCANza - Non-Profit Association Alucro Continuing our efforts to encourage responsible actions towards the environment, we continued in 2022 to support the "ExtravaCANza" campaign organized by the Non-Profit Association Alucro. The aim of the campaign is to properly inform tourists about the importance of collecting and recycling aluminium cans and therefore keeping our beaches clean. Alucro is the only organization exclusively promoting the collection and recycling of aluminium cans and is licensed to run the European Every Can Counts programme, an initiative present in 20 countries. To raise awareness of the importance of collection and recycling and to provide a concrete solution, Alucro organizes the ExtravaCANza campaign every summer, which contributes to the recovery of beverage cans consumed on shore. We have been partners in this initiative since 2018, annually. We also support responsible behavior on holiday. Food insecurity – Federation of Food Banks in Romania (FBAR) Food banks are the main long-term solution to tackle food insecurity. Traditionally, food banks provide assistance on the basis of available food supplies in deprived environments. Regional food banks are trusted partners for us, experts in solving the kinds of logistical problems that supports the national challenge of hunger. They work with companies throughout the supply chain to recover safe and healthy food that would otherwise be thrown away. Food banks then pass this food on to community organizations that distribute it to people facing hunger. In essence, food banks mirror the commercial supply chain – its infrastructure protects food safety, manages inventory, and handles shipping, storage and distribution. This food recovery and distribution model provides communities with consistent access to safe, nutritious food that meets their dietary needs. FBAR is made up of nine Regional Food Banks that are currently active in Bucharest, Cluj, Roman, Oradea, Brașov, Timișoara, Constanța, Craiova and Galați. We support this national solidarity network every year with financial support and food donations. Our objective is to continue our collaboration with all Regional Food Banks and to financially support the collection, storage and distribution of the food to those in need.
