Sustainability is an important part of our corporate identity and our business strategy; it has become one of the 7 strategic pillars of the way we conduct our business. In 2023 we continued our journey of sustainable development of the PENNY network in Romania and expanded our efforts to integrate economic, environmental, and social responsibility into the core of our strategy, governance, and operations. For several years, we have been establishing a link between our business decisions and strategic areas of sustainability. Our strategy remains focused on generating a positive economic, social and environmental impact within the community. We have established four central sustainability pillars that have allowed us to align sustainability initiatives with the strategic objectives of the business, recognizing that this integration brings added value. We aim to establish the concept of sustainable consumption at the level of the entire market, so that PENNY Romania's sustainability strategy is based on the four pillars, one that sets the limits and directions, and the other three operational ones, within which the areas of action define the main topics of our commitment to sustainability: ENERGY, CLIMATE AND RESOURCES. FULLFILLED, ENGAGED, AND EFFECTIVE EMPLOYEES WORKING TOGETHER IN A HEALTHY COMMUNITY With more than 7 300 employees and an operating footprint in a variety of local communities, we take care of our employees in proportion to our "neighbors". CORPORATE GOVERNANCE AND BUSINESS. SUSTAINABLE ASSORTMENT. EMPLOYEES AND SOCIETY. ACTIVE CONTRIBUTION TO CLIMATE PROTECTION AND RESOURCE CONSERVATION As we operate throughout Romania and purchase from all over the world, energy consumption and resource conservation are considered essential on our path to climate neutrality. DEVELOPING A SUSTAINABLE ASSORTMENT AND PROMOTING THE CONSUMPTION OF SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTS As a multinational retailer, our focus is on assortment issues. These include topics such as social standards in the supply chain from harvest to production to logistics, animal welfare as well as resource efficiency in the packaging of our products. RUNNING OUR BUSINESS BASED ON A SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS MODEL Through an ethical approach to business, respecting all human rights and responsible business practices, we can be close to the needs of our customers, employees, and communities we are part of.
