The governance of our company is based on the involvement of stakeholders in the development processes, considering both the economic impact on the business and on other external interest Groups. We focus our efforts on increasing the resilience of the business in the face of significant macro and microeconomic changes. We are committed to approaching business in an ethical way, respecting human rights, and adopting fair and transparent business practices. We are committed to maintaining a strong connection with all our stakeholders and have developed policies that guide us towards responsible business management, policies that we have pragmatically integrated into our operations to achieve our strategic objectives. We take on the role of leaders in the field of sustainability, using market research to understand changes in consumer perception. The quality of life is influenced by many factors, and we strive to meet the evolving needs of consumers by streamlining our activities. We identify risks in the market and often convert them into opportunities. To integrate sustainability into our daily activities, the REWE Group has established an international committee dedicated to this purpose, with designated representatives for each country, with specific responsibilities in the field of sustainability. We have also formed a team at PENNY International level specialized in sustainability, which ensures that the best decisions are made to strengthen our sustainability strategy. Since 2022, this team has been coordinated by two departments at international level: the Procurement Department, which deals with sustainable products, and the Strategy and Project Management Department, which deals with corporate social responsibility issues. This structure of responsibilities has the following objectives: z Effective and transparent implementation and communication of initiatives based on PENNY International's sustainability strategy. z More efficient use of existing resources, without resorting to hiring additional staff. Within our company, sustainability is one of the main objectives of the management. The national sustainability strategy, implemented since 2017 and updated in 2019, is led directly by our CEO, Daniel Gross, with the coordination conducted by the Sustainability Manager, Claudia Ivan. The governance of corporate social responsibility and the management of the impact of PENNY Romania's activity on the environment, employees, communities, and the economy are assigned to the Sustainability Manager*. The importance given to sustainability is reflected by the involvement of the three CEOs in the supervision of the four pillars of sustainability, according to the commitments and responsibilities assumed, thus demonstrating the considerable effort invested in this area and the integration of sustainability principles in all operational aspects. People are essential for the successful and goal-oriented implementation of our strategy. With considerable freedom to develop specific measures in line with our strategy and business model, we continuously invest in the modernization and energy efficiency of our stores, but also in the working conditions of our employees, while actively supporting local communities and vulnerable communities. Constant collaboration with food banks is just one example of sustainability action that helps us prevent food waste and help the most vulnerable members of society. The United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) focus on the global challenges of sustainable development, and we want to contribute to achieving these goals through our commitment to sustainability. For this reason, we have aligned our sustainability strategy and business processes across the 17 SDGs. As a result of an internal analysis, we have identified several relevant SDGs as priorities and thus show how we can contribute to achieving them – from the way we build our stores to procurement of goods and supporting sustainable crops, to processes in logistics and customer education/ engagement. * For more information on the responsibilities and duties of the Sustainability Manager, please refer to page. 33 of the Sustainability Report for the financial year 2022 SUSTAINABILITY REPORT PENNY ROMANIA 2023 34/256 MESSAGE FROM THE GENERAL DIRECTORS SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGY AND GOVERNANCE ABOUT US AND OUR VALUE CHAIN ABOUT THE REPORT THE FUTURE IS MADE TODAY SUSTAINABILITY MILESTONES CONTENTS
