Sustainability Report 2023

Another strategic partnership is the one made with the Romanian Football Federation, one of our trusted partners in supporting sustainable communities. We have expanded the topics covered in 2023, PENNY Romania becoming the official supplier of fresh products for the national team. More information about the activities carried out within the partnership with FRF can be found in the "Campaigns" section below. We continued this year the collaboration with the pre-university education environment, through which we present the options that a retail company can offer to young people, offering guidance to a career that offers them satisfaction. We expect this initiative to return positive results for both young people and our company in the next 5 years, by supporting the professional development of qualified young candidates on the labor market. By taking care of the future of our young people, we take care of the future of our company. As part of this initiative, we organize an event in which we present to the participating high school students the options for a career in PENNY stores, and the participants will ask questions to one of the sales representatives present at the event about their career path and the possibilities for advancement within PENNY. Thus, participants can gain a realistic perspective from a person who works in our stores. Then we have in mindthat any potential donations to political parties or associations, public officials, and public bodies, as well as to churches and other religious Groups must be made in accordance with national legislation and be aligned with the regulatory requirements applicable within the REWE Group. The REWE Group has been reporting in the European Union Transparency Register since 2014. In Brussels there is the Public Affairs department at Group level, which transparently represents the interests of the Group by promoting active dialogue and exchange of information between the REWE Group and relevant stakeholders in the fields of trade and tourism. According to the centralized structure at the Group level, at the local level we have a Public Affairs Coordinator, who supports the dialogue between the business and political environment and coordinates the responses to requests and evaluations of political regulations or framework conditions at national level in the field in which our company operates. In 2023, we participated in round tables held within the Government by our partners from ASE, as part of the stakeholder engagement process in the study "Strategies for balancing Romania's trade balance by stimulating and supporting national production".
