Product control and monitoring Product safety is a top priority in our stores and warehouses, whether we are talking about food or non-food products. Our customers trust that we offer them products that are safe for consumption or use, and we take this responsibility very seriously. In order to guarantee compliance with the highest standards, we have implemented a rigorous product control and monitoring system, based on HACCP principles and a quality management system adapted to each type of product. The controls cover the entire supply chain, from the reception in the warehouse to the store shelf. In warehouses, we apply strict procedures for checking fresh food – fruits, vegetables and meat – evaluating essential parameters such as compliance with the temperature on the cold chain, the visual appearance, the consistency and smell of the product. Only products that meet the requirements are accepted for marketing. For private label products, the quality requirements are clearly defined in technical specifications, which establish binding criteria throughout the entire duration of the collaboration with suppliers. Compliance with these requirements, including food safety requirements, is regularly checked through analyses carried out in independent, authorized and accredited laboratories. The analyzes include physic-chemical determinations, microbiological, contaminants and organoleptic evaluations. The type and frequency of tests are established by the Quality Management department, based on a risk assessment carried out for each product category. We also have an in-house team of quality specialists and work with external auditors to implement and monitor relevant procedures, as well as to assess quality and safety performance indicators. Through these measures, we aim to strengthen customer confidence in our products and maintain a solid reputation in the market, in full compliance with European safety and quality standards.
