Energy, Climate and Resources Progress versus Goals AREA OF ACTION OBIECTIV HIGHLIGHTS · FACTS AND FIGURES ENERGY EFFICIENCY Reduction of energy consumption per m² sales area by 10% by 2030, compared to the base year 2019 (kWh/m²) in own operations PENNY / greater investment in building energyefficient stores / greater investment in efficient refrigeration solutions (equipment) • Electricity consumption intensity decreased by 9% compared to 2019 Increasing the share of renewable energy (e.g. purchasing green energy or installing photovoltaic panels) • Expansion of the photovoltaic panel network in stores: a total of 104 stores and 4 logistics centers with a total installation capacity of 11 490 kWp. • 83% of the total energy consumption of PENNY stores, logistics centers and tenants is covered by certified green electricity and 7% of green electricity produced internally through photovoltaic panel systems CLIMATE CHANGE MITIGATION AND ADAPTATION Reducing the impact on climate change by reducing the carbon footprint (including Goal 3 emissions, i.e. those from the value chain) by 30% by 2030 compared to 2019 (CO₂eq) • 18% decrease in total carbon footprint compared to 2019 • 49% decrease in GHG emission intensity kg CO₂eq/m² of sales area compared to the base year 2019 • Equipping all new stores with CO₂-based refrigeration systems. CONSERVATION OF RESOURCES Responsible consumption of raw materials (other than packaging) – any type of materials used in administrative/ operational activities • Reduction of paper consumption by 11% in stores for printing documents compared to 2023 Responsible consumption of raw materials packaging: • Implementing innovative solutions and operational improvements, through the further development of reusable tertiary packaging systems • Improving the yield of the amount of packaging placed on the market (tons of packaging/mil. Euro turnover) • 48% of the number of pallets transited were reusable pallets (CHEP and LPR) • 10% increase in the intensity of packaging placed on the market (tons/mil. Euro) Responsible water consumption • 12% decrease in total water consumption intensity (m³/m² sales area) compared to 2023 Non-food waste management: • Prevention: reducing the amount of waste generated • Supporting the circular economy: e.g. increasing the recycling rate at the expense of landfill or incineration • 1.5% decrease compared to previous year in the amount of non-hazardous waste generated per sales area (kg/m²) • The intensity of the amount of energy packaging (in relation to the amount of packaging placed on the market) increased by 65% compared to the previous year SUSTAINABILITY STEP-BY-STEP CORPORATE GOVERNANCE AND BUSINESS SUSTAINABLE ASSORTMENT ENERGY, CLIMATE AND RESOURCES EMPLOYEES AND SOCIETY INDEX GRI & SASB ENERGY, CLIMATE AND RESOURCES
