2024 Sustainability Report

Interventions in the strategic area As part of the REWE Group, we have joined the Science Based Targets initiative and aim to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, focusing on significant reductions not only within our own operations but also across our entire supply chain. To this end, and in the desire to bring value through our activities, we have implemented a series of measures according to our sustainability strategy. Thus, in 2024, we continued to pursue the same key performance indicators. The most relevant measures that we want to highlight in 2024 are: • We have advanced in the development of projects aimed at energy efficiency • We have maintained and developed the specific partnerships that have helped us achieve sustainability goals • We have supported and improved digitalization and technical innovation systems, facilitating the efficient use of resources and the management of environmental aspects • We have continued to build environmentally friendly and energy-efficient stores, recognized by BREEAM in Use certification • We have extended the application of the nZEB (Nearly Zero-Energy Buildings) standard to as many new locations as possible • We have improved logistics sustainability by increasing the use of CHEP pallets, and LPR and integrating IFCO crates into deliveries of vegetables and fruit and fresh meat • We have carefully monitored progress on landscape improvement of green spaces to support biodiversity • We have reduced the average monthly paper consumption in stores and at the headquarters, strengthening the digitalization of processes and streamlining document management Intervenții in the operational area We continue to maintain and develop operational processes that contribute significantly to reducing the negative impact on the environment, society and the economy. Energy efficiency remains a priority and is integrated into our climate protection efforts, as energy consumption accounts for the largest part of our carbon footprint. In the reporting year, we revised the material themes, and under the pillar Energy, Climate and Resources we identified the following relevant topics: "Energy efficiency", "Climate change mitigation and adaptation", "CONSERVATION OF RESOURCES" and "Logistics and mobility". The responsibility for managing these areas lies with the Energy, Climate and Resources Working Committee, which also includes the Energy Management team.
