2024 Sustainability Report

Energy efficiency EXPLANATION OF THE IMPACT Energy consumption in our business is the main factor influencing our direct emissions into the atmosphere. Efficiently managing this consumption, which is essential in operational processes from refrigeration and lighting to the operation of IT systems, can reduce operational costs while protecting the climate and the environment. HOW WE CONTROL THE IMPACT We constantly monitor energy consumption and emissions resulting from our activity, using tools and methodologies such as the Global Emission Model for Integrated Systems (GEMIS), which calculates GHG emissions, resource use and life cycle costs for various fuel chains. In order to efficiently manage energy consumption, we implement and develop our energy management system according to ISO 50001, certified since 2017, and last recertified in 2023. This demonstrates our commitment to energy efficiency, implementing sustainable best practices and complying with industry legislation. The premises for the development of objectives in the field of energy efficiency and the establishment of directions of action are established by our Energy Policy. The energy manager coordinates the specialized teams that ensure energy efficiency. It checks and analyzes consumption and makes recommendations to improve energy efficiency. OUR IMPACT AND PERFORMANCE IN FIGURES • Expansion of the photovoltaic panel network in stores: a total of 104 stores and 4 logistics centers with a total installation capacity of 11 490 kWp. • 100% of our newly opened stores benefit from a new lighting concept that reduces electricity consumption by about 35% per year compared to a classic LED system • 100% of our stores are served by a high-performance energy consumption metering system, which involves data management in a portal dedicated to energy efficiency • 100% of our stores are equipped with refrigerated window doors • A 9% reduction in electricity consumption from the following sources: from the national distribution network, from own production through photovoltaic panels or from diesel generators, used as a temporary/off-grid solution (kWh/m² sales area) compared to the 2019 reference. • We have implemented "battery pack" solutions in strategic locations to optimize consumption and reduce dependence on the grid. • 100% of our own stores are equipped with electric heat pumps MESSAGE FROM THE GENERAL MANAGEMENT SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGY AND GOVERNANCE ABOUT US AND OUR VALUE CHAIN ABOUT THE REPORT THE FUTURE IS MADE TODAY SUSTAINABILITY MILESTONES SUSTAINABILITY REPORT PENNY ROMANIA 2024 150/276
