We are constantly striving to identify innovative ways to make our energy consumption more efficient. Thus, we analyze the best practices in the field and rely on practical studies to investigate the feasibility of implementing a new project at our sites. In 2024 we installed our first energy storage system with the opening of the PENNY Chiajna 3 store, where we used a battery with a storage capacity of 189 kWh, which aims to support the operation of the entire store, limiting the necessary consumption from the centralized electricity grid to only 40 kW. Since 2017 we have been using a customized cloud platform to collect, manage and analyze energy efficiency data. This platform allows us to have comparable data at the level of PENNY subsidiaries. In 2024 we continued the setting up and installation of metering systems at the newly opened stores, which transmit data related to energy consumption to this cloud platform. Thus, all our stores are served by this system for managing energy consumption. In addition, in 2024 we have included the entire refrigeration infrastructure in the remote monitoring network. At the same time, to ensure the efficiency of this system, we carry out punctual tests for the energy consumption of certain stores, verifying the consistency and correct transmission of data in the cloud platform. 2024 Percentage distribution of energy consumption in PENNY stores, logistics centers and headquarters, including energy supplied to Tenants by energy type (%) 2% Natural gas sourced from the national grid 7% Photovoltaic Energy (produced internally by photovoltaic panels) 1% Diesel Generators 90% Electricity sourced from the national grid 0% Central heating / district heating SUSTAINABILITY STEP-BY-STEP CORPORATE GOVERNANCE AND BUSINESS SUSTAINABLE ASSORTMENT ENERGY, CLIMATE AND RESOURCES EMPLOYEES AND SOCIETY INDEX GRI & SASB ENERGY, CLIMATE AND RESOURCES
