Conservation of resources EXPLANATION OF THE IMPACT Regardless of the sector in which they operate, all companies depend on natural resources to carry out their business. In the retail sector, access to raw materials plays a crucial role, affecting not only the costs associated with the supply chain, but also compliance with various legal regulations aimed at producer responsibility in the context of extended producer responsibility and the circular economy. Therefore, for us, conservation of resources is not only a way to streamline day-to-day operations, but also a legal requirement that must be met. At the same time, efficient resource management and supporting the development of a circular economy at national level are essential steps in meeting our sustainability goals. HOW WE CONTROL THE IMPACT We are constantly focused on reducing and responsibly managing the resources we use. Every year, we monitor the consumption of water, consumables, packaging and waste generated. In 2024, we continued to implement initiatives to effectively manage these resources. We have supported the circular economy through selective waste collection projects and used packaging reuse systems in logistics. At the same time, we are constantly looking for ways to optimize our business to reduce resource consumption and use alternative sources in our processes. We continue the initiatives developed in previous years, which refer to the conservation of water resources, the use of sustainable materials, the support of biodiversity, the use of reusable logistics systems, the support of correct management and waste reduction. OUR IMPACT AND PERFORMANCE IN FIGURES • We have expanded partnerships for food redistribution, reducing food waste and its impact on the environment, in particular on methane emissions from organic waste. • We have digitized the processes for monitoring stocks and shelf life, which has allowed us to intervene faster and reduce losses, indirectly contributing to the reduction of emissions in the supply chain. • 56% recycling rate of waste generated on our sites • 24 125 tons of waste diverted from disposal • 12 tons were directed to energy recovery • 47.86% of the number of pallets transited were reusable pallets MESSAGE FROM THE GENERAL MANAGEMENT SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGY AND GOVERNANCE ABOUT US AND OUR VALUE CHAIN ABOUT THE REPORT THE FUTURE IS MADE TODAY SUSTAINABILITY MILESTONES SUSTAINABILITY REPORT PENNY ROMANIA 2024 172/276
