2024 Sustainability Report

Implementing innovative solutions and operational improvements, through the further development of reusable tertiary packaging systems Within our logistics processes, we continue to implement sustainable solutions to reduce waste generation. Thus, in 2024 we started a new collaboration with La Palette Rouge (LPR) and continued our collaboration with CHEP for the reuse of wooden pallets and with IFCO for the implementation of the Plastic Container Reuse (PCR) program, two of the most well-known international companies in the field of sustainable management of packaging and reusable supply chain assets. Thus, in our logistics processes in 2024, 35% of our suppliers used exclusively CHEP and LPR pallet delivery and another 3.24% a mixed system between CHEP, LPR and Europallet. Thus, 47.86% of the number of pallets transited were reusable pallets. Of the amount of crates used for the delivery of products in the categories of vegetables, fruits and fresh meat, 23% were IFCO. 11.5% of the suppliers of vegetables, fruits and meat delivered exclusively using IFCO crates, and 33.3% used both IFCO crates and other types of packaging. By using pallet rental, sharing and reuse services from our partners, we participate in protecting the environment and promoting a sustainable logistics model. Following our collaboration with La Palette Rouge (LPR), we participated in the development of the circular economy and in the construction of a more sustainable and collaborative supply chain, recording the following results in the year 2024: ** Values obtained through a calculation methodology in accordance with the international GHG Protocol standards that takes into account the entire life cycle of LPR pallets (Scope 1, 2, 3). 30 915 Pallets delivered delivered throughout the year 11 tons de CO₂ eq saved compared to pallet exchange management systems 23 tons de CO₂ eq generated by LPR and its suppliers Working with CHEP we have saved: + We saved wood resources by 1 112 254 dm³ = 1 075 trees saved + We reduced waste by 123 429 kg = 29 trucks of waste + We have reduced CO₂ emissions by 3 367 575 kg = 84 truck trips around the world * Calculations based on independent Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) studies for the CHEP pallet compared to the white wood equivalent. CHEP LCAs are ISO 14044 compliant and independently assessed. CHEP wood sources are 100% certified for forest management by the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC-C104794®) or the Forest Certification Approval Program (PEFC/07-32-233). We thrive together in the circular economy. Thus, by using IFCO reusable packaging, we have actively participated in the circular economy and contribute to the sustainability of the fresh food supply chain.
