2024 Sustainability Report

Water consumption Within our locations, the main use of water is focused on office activities and maintaining a clean environment. We are committed to recycling and using water for irrigating green spaces whenever possible. In our current practices, we do not resort to the use of water in industrial processes or other complex procedures. We are honored to share in this report our progress in the efficient management of water resources. During the analyzed period, we reached a Water Intensity Report of 91 cubic meters consumed for every million euros generated as net income. This value represents the total water consumption across all our operations, including warehouses and branches, and reflects our ongoing dedication to prudent water use. We also want to be transparent about the total amount of water discharged, which in the reported period was 173 314 cubic meters, discharged into the sewerage systems. This value highlights the relevance of our purification procedures and minimizing the impact on aquatic ecosystems. To protect the quality of the water we discharge, each PENNY store is equipped with decanting and separation systems for fats and hydrocarbons. In addition, we use only ecological detergents, thus ensuring that the water we reintroduce into the environment meets the high quality standards imposed by public water services. According to the analyzes carried out, the quality of the wastewater that we discharge into the sewerage system meets all the verified quality indicators. The water in almost all the spaces managed by our company comes from municipal water sources through the connection to the local distribution network, except for 8 locations where the supply is carried out through underground boreholes: • 1 store in Bucharest • 4 stores in Ilfov county, 3 located in Chiajna and one located in Otopeni • 1 store located in Tărtășești locality in Dâmbovița County • 1 store located in Miercurea Sibiului • Logistics center in Ștefăneştii de Jos, Ilfov County Local authorities are responsible for monitoring the quality of discharged water to ensure that it complies with regulatory standards and does not pose a risk to the environment or public health. We carry out water tests for contaminants and pollutants and inform the authorities if irregularities are observed. In 2024, no irregularities were observed. The Bake-off section continues to be the main consumer of water in stores, thanks to the use of steam in the ovens that ensure the baking of bakery products. Also, regular cleaning of equipment requires significant volumes of water.
