Federation of Food Banks (FBAR) In 2024, we continued our collaboration with the Federation of Food Banks in Romania (FBAR), a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing food waste and supporting vulnerable people. FBAR, a full member of the European Federation of Food Banks (FEBA), encompasses a national network of nine Regional Food Banks, with the main aim of collecting surplus food products and redistributing them to non-governmental organizations that support people in need. In 2024, the activity was supported by a modernized logistics network, including through the opening of a new logistics hub in Bucharest, BREEAM certified, with the financial support of PENNY. In 2024, PENNY Romania continued to be a key strategic partner of the Romanian Food Banks Network (FBAR), actively contributing to reducing food waste and supporting vulnerable communities. By expanding the takeover of food from 291 stores, of which 276 with a high frequency and 4 logistics centers, PENNY supported the rescue of more than 3 070 tons of products, representing 33.5% of the total collected nationwide by the entire network. The total amount of financial support provided by PENNY used by FBAR in 2024 was €625 000, representing 24% of the network's budget, covering operational, salary and logistical costs. In addition, PENNY has been an active partner in education and awareness campaigns, such as the launch of the Edu Play Bus project with the Regional Food Bank of Oradea and the National Food Collections. Through this partnership, PENNY contributes directly to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and SDG 13 (Climate Action), demonstrating that sustainability means concrete action, solidarity and real impact in the community.
