Diversity and equal opportunities Because of the magnitude of our national network, we could not carry out our activity without the help of thousands of colleagues from different cultural backgrounds. By supporting diversity and equal opportunity, we improve our own ability to adapt to changing market conditions and improve our competitive position in the race to recruit talented and skilled employees. Thus, we focus on human resources management on the promotion of a diverse employee structure and on the preservation of a nondiscriminatory workplace for the employees, regardless of gender, age, religion, sexual identity, origin or disability. At the same time, we ensure that all employees have equal opportunities, including equal pay for all genders. This also includes the grant of the same salary regardless of gender. Equal salary for equal work is essential for REWE Group. This is guaranteed to a great extent by the collective bargaining agreements, as they provide that the payment is based on the relevant remuneration level and not on gender or other factors. Our policies and practices related to human rights, diversity and equal treatment are based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of the UN and on the conventions of the International Labour Organisation (ILO). We strictly condemn any form of physical abuse of violent threat, sexual, physical or psychological harassment, forced labour or exploitation of minors. Our employees are encouraged tomake referrals andmay seek the support of employee representatives in order to solve possible unpleasant situations at the workplace. At the time of hiring, all employees are informed about such aspects. No discrimination incidents arose in 2021, but we are always prepared to intervene and take immediate steps if such concern is expressed. Since 2018, we have been signatories to the Diversity Charter and promote employee diversity, inclusion and equal opportunities.
