Raport Sustenabilitate

Interventions in the operational area As part of our operations, we have clear processes that contribute substantially to mitigating negative environmental, social and economic impacts and we also identify key internal and external opportunities that we consider actionable if sustainable and feasible. In the strategy process, within the "Energy, Climate and Environment" pillar, we identified the following five areas of action: "Energy efficiency", "Climate protection", "Resource conservation", "Logistics and mobility" and "Green buildings". The management of all areas of action is coordinated by the Working Committee for Energy, Climate and Resources, which coincides with the Energy Management team. The working group is chaired by the Sustainability Manager, who is also the Energy Manager, according to the ISO 50001 standards. In order to reach the goals set, as well as to have a positive impact on the entire value chain, we make constant efforts for reducing or even eliminating the negative environmental effects, directly or indirectly generated by our activity, through: z the monitoring and the reduction of resource consumption z the reduction of energy consumption z the reduction of polluting emissions z the use of sustainable materials in operations and logistics z the construction of new energy-efficient buildings with a reduced carbon footprint z the implementation of smart monitoring solutions Additionally, in order to meet the sustainability goals, we seek the continuous improvement of all our operations. We regularly carry out energy audits at PENNY premises, which are part of scheduled or unscheduled visits, We maintain our sustainability commitment and we adapt in order to deal with challenges, like the pandemic situation which has disturbed the trade activities at international level. The context of the years 2020-2021 has a significant impact on the operational area of PENNY 's stores and logistics centres, whereas we had to adapt and react to national lock-downs and to safety and prevention requirements concerning the spread of the SARS-COV-2 virus.
