Share of energy consumption in stores, by main consumers in 2021 Share of energy consumption, by types of energy (%) Other 12% Bakery 4% HVAC 13% Refrigeration Crates 6% Refrigeration 32% Butcher shop 13% Safety Lighting 2% Electricity 94.28% General indoor and outdoor lighting 18% Together with the implementation of specific measures concerning energy efficiency and climate protection, we have increased the pro- duction of green energy by 69.72%, and we have reduced the consumption of natural gas by 25.64% by reference to the previous year, due to the replacement of heating equipment with more energy efficient ones. The implementation of all energy optimisation measures, which will continue to provide longterm positive results, required remodelling and renovation works. Every time the national electricity network could not be used, energy produced by diesel generators, owned by PENNY, were used, so that the operational activity would not be stopped, and the cold chain has not been interrupted. This is why the energy consumption specific to this source has increased in 2021 by reference to 2020. On the basis of collected data, the energy manager examines the registered consumption levels, compares them to the planned ones, and following their examination, proposes improvement measures. These measures are mainly designed in order to optimise the lighting, refrigeration, heating and ventilation systems. 1.86% Natural Gas 0.07% LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) 0.56% Diesel Fuel 0.19% Central heating/heating 3.04% Self-produced renewable energies (produced locally by photovoltaic panels) CONTENT ABOUT PENNY SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGY SUSTAINABILITY STEP BY STEP SUSTAINABLE ASSORTMENT ENERGY, CLIMATE AND RESOURCES EMPLOYEES AND SOCIETY REPORT ASSURANCE GRI & SASB INDEX
