Habitat for Humanity In 2020, together with Habitat for Humanity, we have opened a community centre in Buftea, which operates as an after-school and serves two schools from Flămânzeni and Buciumeni – disadvantaged neighbourhoods from Buftea, where poverty, conflicts and tough living conditions strongly impact the development and the education of children. PENNY has joined the project as main partner, under the slogan” Education builds the future”, and besides the financial support, the company has engaged the employees in teambuilding activities at the construction yard, in order to get them involved in the construction stages of the centre. Currently, the centre receives daily 48 kids (from6 to 14 years of age) for extra-curricular activities, help with homework, creative workshops, lecture hours, psychological counselling, etc. They come from vulnerable families which barely manage to provide themwith access to education. The right nutrition is essential for the development and the academic performances of children. This is even more important in the case of extremely vulnerable children. In 2021, we have financially supported the organisation's efforts to build a social canteen in the courtyard of the centre, where the children benefitting from the centre's activities receive a daily hot meal. These efforts will also continue in the next 2 years. The general project aims to developing the local community from Buftea and to facilitating the access to education and to a daily hot meal. In 2021, our accomplishments were the following: z 174 children have come to the Buftea community centre, and have taken part in over 10 educational activities.
