Reduction of food waste derived from our operations With the help of modern forecasting systems and automated command processes, supported by the commercial experience of the employees, the stores can be supplied with fresh goods as needed. The short transport routes between the warehouses and the stores, the end-to-end refrigeration from production to shelf, as well as the regular employee training help to keep the losses at a minimum level. In order to reach our goal, we have developed a plan based on the following pillars: z Creation of initiatives in the store – accelerated sale z Optimisation of the inventory process and the use of artificial intelligence solutions – automatically generated orders z Development of systems aimed at improving the visibility of the cause/of area generating the food waste and, not lastly, the reporting of food waste We face the challenge of surplus food in the stores. In order to limit the food quantity, we have created a system of discounts offered only in store. The discounts are provided only for surplus products or for products approaching the expiry date. This strategy helps us to accelerate the sale of the selected products, and thus we manage to support our customers and to minimize the quantity of discarded products. The quality and the long freshness of food are ensured by the equipment of showcases with doors, the use of IFCO boxes and the use of an appropriate transport logistics service through which the temperature is constantly monitored during transport. This is carried out on short routes, as our products come from regional sources. In order to assess the success of operations and to identify the exact quantities of foods that may become waste throughout the entire supply chain, we have created a database, constantly updated by a dedicated team, enabling us to have a better perspective of the place and the way in which quantities of foods that may become waste are generated.
